Manila city is the old side of going out, along the bay. Malate is where most of it happens. It has live band bars, KTV rooms and Koreatown clubs like Shinma and Barcode that run until 8AM. Ermita is next door and quieter. HYDE MANILA is a speakeasy behind a closet door in Manila Prince Hotel. Up north in Sta. Cruz, Voomerang is a big room club on Rizal Avenue. Drinks are cheaper than in BGC. Beers at Bedrock in Malate are ₱300. Most places are casual. If you like loud and late, this is your part of town.

Getting to Manila

LRT Line 1 runs through the whole city. Pedro Gil and Quirino stations are best for Malate, and UN Avenue is good for Ermita. For Sta. Cruz, the line runs above Rizal Avenue.

Grab from Makati to Malate takes 20 to 30 minutes. From BGC give it 30 to 45 minutes. The trains stop before the clubs fill up, so plan on a Grab home.

Street parking in Malate goes early on weekends. Adriatico Square and Malate Crown Plaza have building parking.

Friday and Saturday are the big nights. Malate bars fill from 10pm, and the clubs get going near midnight.

Late is normal here. Lobo and Club ZZYZX run to 6AM, and Shinma and Barcode go to 8AM. Toshie's in Ermita never closes.

Casual works in most places. HYDE, Shinma, AQUA JTV and Sky Lounge ask for smart casual.

Bring cash. Some bigger places take GCash and cards, but the small bars may not.

Stick to the busy streets late at night and walk with your group. Book your Grab from inside the bar.
