Makati is the biggest night out in Manila, and it isn't one scene. Poblacion is the loud, cheap, walkable one. Legazpi Village is the grown up version, with Monarch, The Blind Pig and Nokal on weekends. Salcedo and the CBD have the hotel bars and the whisky rooms. Getting to Makati
MRT Ayala puts you in the CBD, a short walk from Legazpi and Salcedo. MRT Guadalupe is closer to Poblacion and Rockwell. Either way, the last stretch is a Grab or a jeepney.
Grab between Makati districts is 5 to 15 minutes. From BGC it's 15 to 25. From QC or Ortigas, give it an hour on a Friday night.
Parking is easy in Legazpi, Salcedo and the CBD, where the office buildings open their lots at night. Poblacion is the exception. Street spots there are gone by 9pm.
Before you go
Friday and Saturday are the big nights everywhere. Legazpi bars are busy from Thursday after work. Nokal only opens Friday and Saturday.
Most bars close at 2am. The Poblacion clubs and Bando in Legazpi run to 5 or 6am.
Dress depends on the district. Casual in Poblacion. Smart casual in Legazpi, Salcedo and the hotel bars. The Jury and the whisky bars want you to look like you made an effort.
Cash and GCash work everywhere. Cards work in Legazpi, Salcedo and the hotels.
Makati is safe at night in all of these districts. The quiet streets in Salcedo and Legazpi empty out after midnight, so book a Grab from inside the bar.
