Poblacion is where Makati goes out. It's a few tight blocks between Makati Ave and JP Rizal, and almost every door on Don Pedro, Matilde and Kalayaan is a bar. Start with cocktails at Banter and Jive or Sulok, head up to Encima for the view, then finish at OCTOPUS or Royal when you want to dance. Most places don't charge at the door. Cocktails run about ₱350 and beers about ₱200, so a full night here costs less than one club night in BGC. Wear what you want. Bring cash and GCash. Don't plan to be home before 2.

Getting to Poblacion
The closest train stop is MRT Guadalupe. From there it's a short Grab or a jeepney along Makati Ave, about ten minutes. From Buendia station it's about the same.
Grab from BGC takes 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. From Ortigas or QC, give it 45 minutes on a Friday night.
Parking is the hard part. Street spots on Don Pedro and Matilde are gone by 9pm. There are small pay lots along Kalayaan and Makati Ave. Honestly, take a Grab.
Before you go
Best nights are Friday and Saturday. The bars fill up from 9pm and the clubs don't get going until midnight. Thursday is the quieter version of the same thing. Sundays are slow apart from a couple of spots.
