Katipunan is the student strip. Ateneo and Miriam are across the road and UP is ten minutes away, so the bars are young, cheap and loud by Thursday. Tryst & Co. and 78-53-86 do proper cocktails, The Brewed Statement and Ukiyo do craft beer, and AKAI 1108 has live bands with a view. Cocktails are about ₱250. Nothing charges at the door except the live music nights. The whole strip runs along Katipunan Avenue, so you can walk it end to end.

Getting to Katipunan

LRT-2 Katipunan station drops you right on the avenue. Most of the bars are a 5 to 15 minute walk north or south of it.

Grab from Tomas Morato is 15 to 20 minutes, from Cubao about 15, from Makati 45 minutes to an hour at night.

Parking is fine. The bars sit in small commercial strips along the avenue and most have a few slots out front. Street parking on the service road is easy on weeknights and tight on Fridays.

Before you go

Thursday to Saturday are the nights, and Thursday is busier here than most places because of the school week. Semester breaks are quiet.

Bars close around 2am. A few go to 3 or 4am on weekends.

Dress code is casual everywhere. Nobody is checking.

Cash and GCash first. Some of the smaller bars don't take cards.

It's a safe, busy stretch. The avenue is lit and there's traffic all night. Grab pickups are easy from any of the strips.
