Rizal is the province just east of Marikina and Pasig, and most people go there for one thing. That's the view from Antipolo, where bars on Sumulong Highway look down on the whole city. Cloud 9 and Calmado are the famous ones. The rest of Rizal is smaller and more local. Cainta and Taytay have restobars that stay open until morning. Angono has the only real club, Prime Night Club, plus a few music bars. San Mateo has The CAGE for sports. Binangonan has two lakeside spots on Laguna de Bay. Drinks cost less than in the city, and none of the bars with cover info charge at the door.

Getting to Rizal
Rizal's main roads all start at the eastern edge of the metro. Marcos Highway takes you to Masinag, where Sumulong Highway climbs up to the Antipolo view bars. Ortigas Ave Extension runs from Pasig through Cainta and Taytay. Manila East Road carries on to Angono and Binangonan.
LRT-2 now ends at Antipolo station, near Masinag. It helps for Antipolo. Everywhere else, you'll want a Grab or a car.
Driving is the easy way. Nearly every bar here has its own parking. Booking a Grab back to the city late at night can take a while, so sort out your ride home first.
Before you go
Friday to Sunday are the busy nights everywhere. In Antipolo the good tables go before sunset.
Hours vary a lot. Cloud 9 closes at 11pm. Padi's Point and The CAGE go to 5am. Clanmate in Cainta runs to 6am, and Con Vista in Angono stays open to 7am on weekends.
Dress is casual almost everywhere. Starbee in Taytay and a couple of Antipolo spots are a little dressier.
Bring cash and GCash. Not every grill takes cards.
If you're driving, pick someone who won't drink. Sumulong Highway is steep and winding after dark.

Are there clubs in Rizal?
One that we list. Prime Night Club in Angono has a proper dance floor with DJs playing house, hip hop and EDM, open 8:30pm to 4am every night. Everything else in Rizal is a bar, restobar or lounge.

Con Vista in Angono runs to 6am on weekdays and 7am on weekends. Clanmate in Cainta goes to 6am. Hippers in Cainta, Padi's Point in Antipolo and The CAGE in San Mateo all close at 5am. Mt. Makatubong in Antipolo is open 24 hours.
Do bars in Rizal charge an entrance fee?

How far is Antipolo from Manila?
From Cubao or Katipunan it's usually 30 to 45 minutes by car without traffic. From Makati or BGC, give it an hour or more on a Friday. LRT-2 runs all the way to Antipolo station near Masinag.
Is Rizal cheaper than Manila for a night out?
Mostly, yes. Cocktails in Antipolo are about ₱250 to ₱450 at most places. In Angono, Con Vista sells beer at ₱119. The view bars in Antipolo cost a bit more, but there's no cover anywhere we list.
