A Neighbourhood That Drinks Its Own Way
Marikina doesn't try to be Poblacion, and that's the appeal. The nightlife here is riverside, relaxed and cheap — restobars with live bands, a famous food street, and a surprising craft-cocktail gem, all on prices that won't wreck you. It's less a scene than a neighbourhood, and it makes for a genuinely good barkada night on the city's east side. It also pairs perfectly with a drive up to the Antipolo overlooking bars just above it.
The action splits into three pockets: Gil Fernando Avenue, Lilac Street, and a few standouts of their own.
Gil Fernando Ave: Restobars & Live Bands
The Mayor Gil Fernando strip is Marikina's main going-out drag — party-leaning restobars with live music and DJs:
- Hippers Bar and Resto - Marikina is the lively anchor, known for unlimited chicken wings and cheese sticks, with live DJ nights on Thursdays and Fridays.
- Turning Tides Café and Gastropub is a café by day and a gastropub by night, with live performances and a multi-cuisine menu, open until 3am.
- Dekada Bar and Grill - Marikina is the party room with live bands and DJs, and Star Palace Super Club is the long-running dance club near the strip, open until 5am on weekends.
- Over in Parang, KALMA Bar & Grill is the highest-rated of the bunch — Filipino food and a live band from around 7pm.
The Craft Cocktail Standout
Marikina's best-kept secret is Bar by East — an architecture studio by day that turns into a serious craft cocktail bar by night, serving Filipino-inspired signature drinks (plus classics and alcohol-free options). It's been featured by World's 50 Best Discovery and Tatler, which is rare air for a bar this far east. If you only make one stop in Marikina, make it this one. Lilac Street: Food-Strip Drinking
Lilac Street is Marikina's famous restaurant row, and several spots double as easy drinking:
- Concho's has one of the strip's best al fresco areas — a second-floor deck overlooking the street, strong on pork and sisig.
