Best Sports Bars in Manila: Where to Watch the Game

Big screens, cold beer and a crowd that actually cares — here's where to catch football, the NBA, UFC and boxing in Manila, from Poblacion's expat sports strip to fight-night venues around the metro.

Watching Sport in Manila

Manila takes its sport seriously — basketball is a religion, boxing stops the country, and there's a big enough expat and football crowd to keep the screens on at odd hours. The catch is the time difference: European football lands late night to early morning here, the NBA plays out over breakfast, and the big fights are Sunday-noon PPV events. The right sports bar sorts all of that with cold beer and a crowd that cares. Here's where to go.

Poblacion: The Sports-Bar Cluster

Poblacion has the densest run of proper sports bars in the city, most within a block or two of each other:

  • Handlebar Bar and Grill is the long-running expat institution — multiple screens, comfort food, and an English-speaking regular crowd that turns up for every match.

It's the easiest plan in the city: pick a match, walk the strip, and duck into whichever room has your game on. Full context in the Poblacion bar guide.

Beyond Makati

  • Karma Lounge on Tomas Morato is the QC do-everything room — a sports bar with a fighting-game arcade and live bands, good for a game that turns into a night.

Fight Nights & Big Events

For boxing and UFC pay-per-views, the sports bars above screen the marquee cards — and some venues make a name for it. Station 15 Bar and Restaurant up in Tagaytay has become a fight-night favourite (the Crawford–Canelo crowd gathered there), handy if you're already up the ridge. For a Pacquiao-scale event, get to any of these early: the Poblacion rooms fill an hour before the main card.

Tips

  • Check the kickoff in Manila time. Late European football and morning NBA both happen here — call ahead to confirm the bar's opening for an odd-hour match.
  • Reserve for the big ones. Derby days, NBA finals and title fights pack out the Poblacion cluster.
  • Cash for cover. Some venues add a small charge for PPV events — bring a bit of cash.
