Best Rooftop Bars in Manila: Views, Vibes & What to Expect

Manila's skyline looks completely different from above. These are the rooftop bars I keep coming back to — across BGC, Makati, Poblacion and Ortigas — and what makes each worth the trip.

Why I Drink Up High

The heat breaks after dark, the skyline lights up, and a rooftop becomes the best seat in the city. Manila has more of them than most people realise — spread across BGC's towers, Poblacion's bar buildings, and the high-rises of Ortigas. Here are the ones I keep coming back to.

BGC Rooftops

O2 Rooftop Bar is the headliner — 27 floors up, with skyline views in every direction and cocktails to match. Straight Up Bar at Seda is the more sophisticated, hotel-rooftop option, known for acoustic nights and a daily happy hour. I went deeper on the area in the BGC-specific rooftop bars in BGC guide, and there's more street-level context in the BGC nightlife guide.

Makati & Poblacion Rooftops

Poblacion stacks its rooftops on top of its bars. Z Hostel Rooftop is the backpacker-favourite party deck, Firefly Roofdeck runs day-to-night on the 32nd floor with live bands, Encima Roofdeck does a Tex-Mex spin on the view, The Fun Roof adds rooftop games to the drinks, and Ugly Duck rounds out the crawl with a kitchen worth staying for. Over in the CBD, 1018 Rooftop Bar is a stairs-only climb that pays off with a quieter Makati skyline.

These all sit inside the wider scene covered in the Makati nightlife guide.

Ortigas & QC Rooftops

Head east for height without the BGC crowd. VU's Sky Bar and Lounge sits 45 floors up at the Marco Polo with a 180-degree view and a double happy hour, Sky High Bar brings the Ace Hotel rooftop and a Tuesday ladies' night, and Oaktop is the relaxed, sunset-friendly option on the QC side.

Rooftop Tips

  • Go early or book — the best tables fill fast on clear nights, especially weekends.
  • Check the weather — most rooftops close or move indoors when it rains.
  • Dress one notch up — rooftop crowds skew slightly more polished than street-level bars.
  • Time the sunset — arrive around 6pm and you get golden hour and the night skyline in one sitting.
